Bachelor of Science in Anesthesia is a branch of medical sciences (Paramedical) in which students learn about principles, methods, and equipment of anesthesia, especially in specialized surgeries like those of the heart, large vessels, thorax, brain, organ transplants, etc

They learn patient care at various stages of anesthesia. Graduates of this major work at the educational and therapeutic centers to assist administration of anesthesia, maintenance and emergence of patients, care for patients admitted to Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) or recovery room, acute pain management service (APMS) and emergency medical care under the direct supervision of anesthesiologist.

Objectives of the program:

  • Training practitioners who can -under the supervision of anesthesiologists- help in administration of anesthesia and maintenance, and emergence of patients, especially in specialized anesthetic surgeries.

  • Training practitioners who can participate in the care of patients in the Post-Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU) under the supervision of anesthesiologists.

  • Training practitioners who can participate in the care of patients in acute pain management service (APMS) under the supervision of anesthesiologists.

  • Training practitioners who can as an effective member of the CPCR team in health care centers under the supervision of anesthesiologists.

  • Training practitioners who can maintain the equipment and devices related to the anesthetic sector, PACU and acute pain management service.

  • Training practitioners who can who can learn and practice the operating room and anesthesia safety tips.

The ultimate goal of the program is to empower students with associate degree in anesthetics to properly provide relevant services to patients.

Admission terms and conditions

  • Admission of students is done though national examination (discontinuous bachelors program) and will be centralized.

  • Candidates must have an associate degree in anesthesia.

  • Candidates must have full physical and mental health.

Program duration and form of the educational system:

The duration and educational system is based on the educational by-law for associate, and continuous and non-continuous undergraduate degrees approved by the Supreme Council for the Planning of Medical Sciences Curriculums.

The total number of credits is 65 and the duration of study is 2 years.
